Removing the engine from an XS650: Remove all engine mount bolts except the front and bottom-rear, lie down frame, take last two bolts out, lift frame.

damn that is easy.
This is how I removed mine the other day. Point to note is it only works one way. You have to lay the bike on the correct side.
